The wide receiver market is running thin as free agency runs its course, but one elite target is still available: Philadelphia Eagles superstar A.J. Brown. Teams like the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos have shown interest in him, including, most interestingly, the Los Angeles Rams.

However, front offices will also have to prepare for the scenario in which Brown isn’t traded to them, and they have to upgrade their receiving corps elsewhere.

Mel Kiper Projects the Los Angeles Rams to Acquire Another Receiver in the Draft

In his latest mock draft, Kiper has Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson heading to the Rams at pick 13, saying, “The Rams already have Puka Nacua and Davante Adams running routes, but the No. 3 receiver role is wide open. Getting Tyson into the mix in their all-in year could be huge for quarterback Matthew Stafford.”

“Tyson is almost always available to the football, making tough plays in tight coverage. He plays the game a lot like Adams, and if not for some durability concerns, Tyson would probably be the top receiver in the class.”

Tyson, who finished 2025 with a WR impact grade of 81.2 according to PFSN, could be another weapon Stafford could use to elevate the offense.

As Kiper said, his ball-tracking and body control have drawn comparisons to Adams, though he also has athletic upside similar to Puka Nacua’s.

While receiver may not be a top need for the Rams, below the surface, it is. Adams isn’t getting any younger, and Nacua will soon be receiving a contract exceeding $40 million APY, so it makes sense to lock in a young, talented receiver on a cheap contract to grow alongside Nacua.

A Possible Rams-A.J. Brown Connection?

As mentioned, the Rams explored upgrading their receiver room, particularly with Brown in mind. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing reporting from The Athletic, the Eagles held “serious conversations” with both the Rams and the Patriots about a potential deal for Brown, though Los Angeles ultimately chose to tap out of the talks.

The news comes as a surprise to some, as acquiring Brown, who signed a three-year, $96 million extension in 2024, while trying to sign Nacua to an even bigger deal, seems difficult to fathom, though the trade talks seem to be dead for now.

While they might not acquire Brown, experts are convinced the Rams are committed to upgrading the receiver room, whether through free agency or the draft.
